I walked into Boulter Industrial Contractors’ Pints & Partnerships event without knowing anyone in the room. Their team had invited me, and I was looking forward to meeting the people behind some of the businesses shaping Syracuse and Central New York.
The evening was casual, productive, and community oriented. I connected with people from VIP Structures, FANUC, Industry Video Productions, Feldmeier Equipment, and MACNY. I left with new relationships and one observation that has stayed with me.
When Customers Are Counting on You
Colby Clark of Feldmeier Equipment talked about the responsibility his team feels when serving healthcare brands. As I understood his point, when those customers need something, sometimes saying no doesn’t feel like an option. His team’s work supports organizations that people depend on to keep them healthy.
That struck me because it puts the work into perspective. A customer’s request can carry consequences well beyond the immediate job. Behind it are other teams, commitments, and people relying on the outcome.
It also made me think about our responsibility at Micro Solutions.
When a manufacturer loses access to its ERP system, the effects can reach production scheduling, inventory, and shipping. When a contractor’s team cannot access project files, work can slow between the office and the field. A technology issue inside one business can affect the customers counting on it.
As an IT partner, we need to understand those dependencies. What does this business need to deliver? Which systems support that work? What happens when they become unavailable?
Those questions help us focus our recommendations on what matters to the organization.
IT Support for Growing Syracuse Businesses
As Central New York prepares for opportunities connected to Micron and the region’s broader development, I’m interested in what that means for manufacturers, contractors, suppliers, and the businesses supporting them.
Taking on more work brings practical technology demands. New employees need workstations, accounts, and access to the right systems. Expanded facilities need cabling and dependable network connectivity. More customers and projects can put additional demands on business applications and the people supporting them.
Some organizations already have an internal IT team that needs extra capacity. Others need an outside partner to handle day-to-day support and help plan what comes next.
Micro Solutions provides IT support for Syracuse businesses, helping teams manage those needs as they grow. That can include provisioning workstations, setting up Microsoft 365 accounts, improving connectivity, and coordinating the IT infrastructure that supports ERP and other business applications.
Our approach to IT support for manufacturing companies starts with understanding how technology supports production and the people responsible for keeping it moving.
For businesses that need additional help, remote IT support gives employees somewhere to turn when problems arise. It can also add support capacity alongside an existing internal IT team, with responsibilities defined around the organization’s needs.
Building Security Into Business Growth
Growth also changes what a business needs to protect.
Adding employees, devices, accounts, and vendor connections creates more access to manage. During a busy expansion, it is easy for temporary arrangements to become permanent: a shared login, permissions that are broader than necessary, or a vendor connection nobody has revisited.
Addressing those details early helps businesses grow with clearer responsibilities and fewer loose ends. Account setup, access controls, employee security awareness, and backup and recovery planning all deserve a place in the conversation.
At Micro Solutions, cybersecurity is connected to the ongoing management of the users, devices, and systems it protects. Security decisions need to account for how employees work and what the business needs to deliver.
For organizations that want broader ongoing support, TotalCare managed IT services bring employee support, system management, cybersecurity, vendor coordination, and technology planning into one relationship.
Across that work, we value clear communication and accountability. Clients should understand our recommendations, know who is responsible, and feel comfortable asking questions.
Building Stronger Relationships in Central New York
One of the things I appreciated most about Pints & Partnerships was the opportunity to meet people and hear how they think about their work.
Colby’s observation was a reminder that understanding a business takes more than knowing what it makes or sells. It means understanding who depends on it and the commitments its team works hard to keep.
That is the perspective I want to bring as Micro Solutions builds stronger relationships in Syracuse and throughout Central New York. Spending time with the business community helps us learn where our experience can be useful and how we can support the work already happening here.
Thank you to the Boulter team for the invitation and for bringing these conversations together. I’m looking forward to staying connected with the people I met and getting to know more of the businesses helping this region move forward.
If your business is growing in Syracuse or Central New York, I’d welcome a conversation about what your team needs from its technology and where Micro Solutions could help. Connect with our team.
